| Big Bend Ultra Run |

This is a 10k/25k/50k foot race event in Big Bend National Park that began in 2005. It ran for 3 years, through 2007, then it suspended until 2011. Hosted by Fleet Feet of San Antonio, Texas, many participants come from the central and east Texas area, and further. We always have the assistance of HAMs from San Antonio and Austin area to help with this event. |

One of the most popular Desert Mountain Bicycling events of the sport, the first Big Bend Chihuahuan Desert Classic was held in Lajitas, Texas in 1988. It evolved into the Chihuahuan Dessert Challenge and continued through 2002. In 2004 it returned as the Mas-o-Menos 100k, hosted by Desert Sports, and was moved to the CASI (Chili Appreciation Society International, Inc.) Chili Cook Off site just west of the Terlingua Ghost Town.
We are waiting for information if the ride will happen in 2011. Check the Mas-o-Menos page for updates. |

Competitive bicycle race held near Fort Davis, Texas. Directed by Peyton's Bikes and the Permian Basin Bicycling Association. Road race on the Scenic Loop through the Davis Mountains. There is also a Hill Climb to the top of Mt. Locke at the McDonald Observatory. |

Close US Highway 285 between Ft. Stockton, TX and Sanderson, TX. and go as fast as you can. Highest average speed over the 59 mile course in 2010 was 164 MPH. Highest top speed through the official speed trap, 197 MPH. |

The Community of Alpine celebrates Independence Day each year with a parade that ends at the City's Kokernot Park. There, vendors and organizations have games and booths with food and merchandise. The community enjoys the City Fair type activities until the fireworks show that begins at dark.
The BBARC cooks up about 400 char-grilled hamburgers during the evening and the proceeds are used to maintain repeaters and emergency communications equipment owned by the club. |

One evening before Christmas rolls around we pull out the club's communication van and set up in downtown Alpine, Texas and give children the chance to talk to Santa Clause on our 2-way repeater system. |
