BBARC 145.230 Emergency Repeater Maintenance:
NEED:
Add Ch 1 = Low Power, Ch 2 = High power.
- SYSTEM AT N5HYD'S, NOT LINKED, OFF-AIR:
- LOCAL REPEATER:
- No RX COR. PL Detect, or audio. FTH Group replaced fan (inoperative) and front panel mic jack (int PTT). Thay also "repair and adjust to fis RX issue.)
- SYSTEM AT W5ATO'S, NOT LINKED, OFF-AIR:
- POWER:
- Specialty Concepts charge controller (just like the one I took out of service at 62 a few weeks ago), had to have someone push the manual reset
toggle. I thought automatic LVD would reset automatically, but it didn't. (It should. N5HYD). Voltage was at 13, but the little red light on the LVD was lit. I pushed reset, the repeater came on and the little red light went out. Repeater is working fine.
- LOCAL REPEATER:
- Added 50' of LDF4-50A 1/2" hardline with a UHF-F and a N-F connector.
This is done to get the antenna away from the repeater box to help lesson the transmitter getting into the receiver.
- CONTROLLER:
- Uploaded the regular 145.230 RLC-1 Aspect file into it again, just in case.
- LOCAL REPEATER:
- Changed CWID from N5DO to AD5BB.
- Extended time-out timer from 180 seconds to 600 seconds.
- CONTROLLER:
- New controller, Serial #1984, Rev G.
- Uploaded the regular 145.230 RLC-1 Aspect file into it.
(No maintenance data recorded between 15 November, 2008 and 15 February, 2010.)
- LOCAL REPEATER:
- Changed CWID from N5HYD to N5DO.
- Enabled 3 minute time-out timer.
- LINK RADIO:
- Enabled 3 minute time-out timer.
- CONTROLLER:
- SYSTEM
- Got tired of trying to keep this thing fixed so replaced it with the Kenwood TKR-750 Local Repeater - Vertex VX-3000 Link Radio combo that was 145.330.
- 145.230 LOCAL REPEATER:
- Int. transmit audio. Loose connection on the SAS board, J8. This is the radio speaker connection. We are not sure if this connector causes the failure.
- 443.000 LINK RADIO:
- The Motorola Maxtrac failed. Replaced with a Kenwood TK-862HG #70400239.
- Rough alignment without MVP.
- 443.000 LINK RADIO:
- Added channel #4 For direct link to RV Repeater
(449T625, 444R625).
- Replaced broken radio bracket wing bolt.
- 443.000 LINK RADIO:
- Added channel #3 for WTC/Ft. Stockton.
- 145.230 LOCAL REPEATER:
- No transmit power output. Problem traced to open solder
joint in center conductor of the radio end of the radio TX to duplexer
jumper. Resoldered.
- 145.230 LOCAL REPEATER:
- No transmit audio. No transmit tones. W5ATO delivered it
to N5HYD's office. Could not duplicate problem.
- 443.000 LINK RADIO:
- Well, the Motorola Radius SM50 #682FXU4254 was missing
and is presumably being used as a Link Radio at the 444.900 site.
Installed a Motorola Maxtrac.
- CONTROLLER:
- Replaced 2 audio pots with 200K, 25 turn pots.
- The two TONE pots are stock.
- SITE: Aligned.
- Local Repeater = -111 DBm on, -113 DBm off, 13 watts.
- Link Radio = -120 DBm on, -121 DBm off, 11 watts.
-
145.230 LOCAL REPEATER:
-
Desense. Changed receiver input connection on front
panel from BNC to UHF type. Also moved the mounting hole from near the
P.A. output to under the board near the exciter board.
-
Replaced old gray antenna with Maxrad MFB-1443 white
antenna.
-
443.000 LINK RADIO:
-
The Vertex VX-3000 has problems when the D.C. input power
is low. Replaced with Motorola Radius SM50 #682FXU4254.
- ALL:
- Moved system from Marathon site to N5HYD residence.
Replaced Link Radio MVP with Vertex VX-3000 #1K220014. Aligned system.
- ALL:
- Moved to the Marathon repeater site. This was done for a pending
"Marathon to Marathon Marathon" to be held on October 11th. Used an 8
element beam for the link radio. The path from here to Twin Sisters is still
weak but usable.
- LINK:
- Replaced 1/4 wave link antenna with Larsen NMO-450-K.
- ALL:
- Full system alignment. Repeater RX and Link TX xtals were off. Aligned audio. Repeater RX = -114 DBm.
- ALL:
- Installed repeater system at Alpine. Link radio up and running.
- POWER:
- Installed Charge Controller.
- CONTROLLER:
- Installed new RLC-1 controller, serial #748.
