BBARC 146.720 Twin Sisters Site Alignment:

PORT #1 REPEATER
(146.720 Vertex VXR-5000 Repeater #0M470023).

  • SETUP:
    1. RLC-1: Remove the 2 small ADM modules from the RLC-1 circuit board.
    2. RLC-1: Use jumpers from the ADM modules to short across the left two jumpers on each of the ADM module headers on the RLC-1.
  • RECEIVER:
    1. Inject the following 146.120 MHZ, full quieting signal into the Local Repeater receiver antenna connection:
      1. 1.0 KHZ at 3.5 KHZ deviation.
      2. 0.1462 KHZ at 0.5 KHZ deviation.
    2. Verify at least -112 DBM engage and -116 DBM drop-out into Local Repeater receiver antenna connection.
    3. Reset injected signal to full quieting.
    4. In the RLC-1, connect an AC true RMS voltmeter to C37 nearest the DB-9 connector.
    5. Verify ~228 mV receive audio from Vertex.
    6. Connect the voltmeter to the RLC-1, "MN RX" test point.
    7. Adjust the RLC-1, "MAIN RX" pot to 0.707 Vrms.
  • TRANSMITTER:
    1. Remove the injected signal.
    2. Use the small PTT switch in the Vertex Repeater to bring up the transmitter.
    3. Adjust VR2003 (deep set pot across from the LED's) for 0.5 KHZ of 146.2 CTCSS deviation.
    4. Re-inject the signal into the receiver antenna connection.
    5. Verify power out at about 25 watts.
    6. Adjust the RLC-1, "MAIN TX" pot to maximum.
    7. Adjust VR2002 (deep set pot next to the middle switch S2003) for 5.5 KHZ deviation.
    8. Connect the meter to the RLC-1, "MN TX" test point.
    9. Adjust the RLC-1, "MAIN TX" pot to 0.707 Vrms or 4.2 KHZ deviation on 146.720 MHZ.
    10. Adjust the Vertex Repeater Line Sens pot VR2001 (Last pot nearest the center of the repeater) for 4.2 KHZ deviation.
    11. Using a hand held radio:
      1. Measure the deviation level of DTMF on the output of the handheld.
      2. Adjust Vertex Repeater Line Sens pot VR2001 (Last pot nearest the center of the repeater) for the same level on the output of the repeater.
  • TONES:
    1. Press the "RESET" button on the RLC-1.
    2. Adjust the RLC-1, "MAIN TONE" pot to 1.0 KHZ deviation or maximum if 1.0 KHZ cannot be obtained.

PORT #2 LINK RADIO
(443.000 Motorola Radius #778TRQ1404)

  • RECEIVER:
    1. Inject the following 448.000 MHZ, full quieting signal into the Link Radio antenna connection:
      1. 1.0 KHZ at 3.5 KHZ deviation.
      2. 0.1462 KHZ at 0.5 KHZ deviation.
    2. Verify at least -117 DBM into Link Radio antenna connection.
    3. Reset injected signal to full quieting.
    4. Connect the meter to the RLC-1, "LK RX" test point.
    5. Adjust the RLC-1, "LINK RX" pot to 0.707 Vrms.
  • TRANSMITTER:
    1. Inject the following 146.120 MHZ, full quieting signal into the Repeater receiver antenna connection:
      1. 1.0 KHZ at 3.5 KHZ deviation.
      2. 0.1462 KHZ at 0.5 KHZ deviation.
    2. Verify ~1.5 watts output.
    3. Connect the meter to the RLC-1, "LK TX" test point.
    4. Adjust the RLC-1, "LINK TX" pot to 324 Vrms  or 4.2 KHZ deviation on 443.000 MHZ.
  • FINISH UP:
    1. Remove ADM header jumpers and re-install ADM modules on the RLC-1 board.
    2. Go have a beer.
