The Big Bend Amateur Radio Club is based in Alpine, Texas and covers the entire Big Bend area of West Texas. The club is open to anyone interested in amateur radio activities.  Join us at our monthly meeting or on the air via one of our weekly nets.

December 8 Meeting

The BBARC December monthly meeting will have club election of officers. A nominating committee is forming, and nominations will also be taken from the floor. Not sure if an in person meeting or on the repeaters.

The repeater meetings begin at 7:30pm run by Stephen KE5WCP. Early checkins begin at 7:00 by Bill W5NPR. The repeater information can be found here. The meeting is also accessible by our EchoLink station, K5FD-R.

Ham Estate Sale Ongoing

An estate sale for Tom Gius N5NYZ features Ham radio gear, thousands of parts, and stereo gear. The sale is drawing to a close and basically last chance for hams today (11-11) and tomorrow. The only radios left are ones that don’t work. An advertisement in the Alpine Avalanche and on KVLF radio will announce the sell to the general public on Friday and Saturday 9:00 to 3:00. Brenda is generally at the house 11:00 to 2:00 each day this week.

The 12×16 storage shed with the stereo gear is for sale for $3200.

Cactus Farm Ham Class

The Cactus Farm is sponsoring a technician license class for four weeks starting December 2. Scott KI5ANQ will lead the class to motivate Terlingua Ranch residents to get licensed. After class, students can stay to hear the BBARC 2m Net with a mobile rig set up in the classroom. The Cactus Farm is a community center sponsored by the Burger Family. The class is free.
