ARRL Grant Money for New Repeater

August 30 — The following statement was released by Charlie N5CET.

The ARRL Club Grant process Round 1 has been completed and we were not awarded a grant.

The ARRL Foundation received 128 applications totaling 1.74 million dollars.
ADRC, who funded the process, gave 500,00 dollars to be applied in two rounds.

The ARRL Foundation awarded 270,000 dollars in the first round, reserving 230,000 for the second.

Round 2 starts on September 7 and will run through at least the end of the year.
We have been invited to reapply, but not knowing exactly why we weren’t awarded in Round 1 makes it impossible to tweak our proposal for resubmission. We were given no feedback other than we didn’t make the cut.

I believe our request did not fall along the target paths of the Foundation. The target paths were boosting struggling clubs or providing STEM learning activities. I anticipate that when awardees and their projects are named, we will discover that alignment.

Therefore, we will not be resubmitting for Round 2.

Thanks to the EXTREMELY generous donation made to the club by K5CLO (Gordo Moeller). We will be able to complete the 147.22 repeater project in the very near future.

Perhaps next year’s grant process will have a different focus.

Thanks to all the participated,

Charlie N5CET
